Breast cancer knows no age, gender or race. As the most common cancer in women worldwide and the second most common cancer overall, it remains a fact of life. Nearly 1.7 million women around the globe were diagnosed in 2012, and incidence rates are on the rise.
The Annual Hope Runs Here 5K Run/Walk benefits the Long Island 2 Day Breast Cancer Walk
LI2DAY is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2004 that raises awareness and much needed funds for the women and men in our community who are fighting breast cancer.
Having raised nearly $6 MILLION
In 11 years from the LI2Day Walk. LI2DAY has awarded $150,000 in scholarships to 60 students, a yearly breast cancer research grant to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and funded programs that have assisted over 145,000 Long Islanders. Through local grassroots organizations from Manhasset to Montauk, these programs assist with medical expenses, transportation, prosthetics and wigs, physical therapy, child care, research, education and more.
It was an honor to participate with my friends and clients and we look forward to walking again next year.
LI2DAY has raised over $4 MILLION from its signature event, the 35-mile, two day breast cancer walk. 100% of the funds have assisted nearly 90,000 Long Islanders affected by breast cancer, aided local breast cancer research and granted $120,000 in scholarships to 48 high students whose parent or guardian has been affected by breast cancer. Local grassroots breast cancer organizations receive funding from LI2DAY for programs that assist with medical expenses, transportation, prosthetics and wigs, physical therapy, child care, research, education and more.
